Workshops for children

Pre-K to 2nd grade (ages 3-8) 
Journey Through the Instruments and Intro to Jazz. 
We talk about each of our instruments, show students how they work and the parts that make them up, and a little about our role in the group. We show kids that music is fun, and is something to be enjoyed all the time! 
(Program varies slightly depending on age range)

3rd grade through 8th grade (ages 8-14) - 
Intro to Jazz and Learning To Listen. 
We talk about the history of each of the instruments in the trio and its role in Jazz, and then teach the students about listening and communication, and how playing music together is often like having a conversation and should be treated as a dialogue. We demonstrate call and response, and teach students the blues form. (Program varies slightly depending on age range)
